Quick facts:

• Removal of more than 5 trees per year or removal of a healthy specimen tree requires a permit.
• Trees counted if larger than 2” caliper count towards requirements.
• ​Diseased and insect infested trees can be removed but should be assessed by a certified arborist. ​
• Dead, Dying, and Hazardous (DDH) trees can be removed without a permit. A certified arborist assessment is recommended.​

Specimen Tree Definition:
Any tree in fair or better condition which equals or exceeds the following diameter sizes:​
‍Large hardwoods = 30” DBH ( i.e., oaks, hickories, yellow poplars, and similar species)​
‍Large softwoods = 30” DBH (e.g., pines, evergreens, and similar species)
‍​Small trees = 10” DBH (e.g., dogwoods, redbuds, sourwoods, and similar species)

​Dead, Dying, Hazardous (DDH) Definition:
​A tree posing immediate hazard or danger to a person or property due to imminent failure in part or whole.
